Too slow Arsene – Ribery to Bayern

2 posts in a day!

In an update to my previous post, I now know that Poom has gone to Watford, hence the new signing: 1 in 1

The other more dissapointing news is that Bayern, bouyed by the funds of the sale of Hargreaves have snapped the 24 year old winger out.from under our noses. Perhaps its for the best, he was clearly just motivated by cash!! joining the Krauts, oh well. I’m sure this isn’t the last of the dissapointments of the summer.

Polish international keeper Lukasz Fabianski joins Arsenal

Our first signing of the closed season sees the regular Polish under 21 international join the gunners, this clearly means the writing is on the wall for one of our other reserves, Almunia or Poom. Fabianski has one the best goal keeper award for the Polish prem for the last 2 seasons, sounds promising.

In other transfer news, The Beast, despite a couple of improved performances is on his way back to Spain, he arrived with great expectations but has failed to stamp his authority on the premiership. I think his beastly nick name may have hampered him, as he proved to be more of a pussycat and clearly struggled with the physicality of the English league. Despite that he had a couple of performances that should have made him a regular first team pick, notably against Liverpool in the league cup, but that was really about it, we must however always be grateful to The Beast, despite scoring an own goal against the Scum, he scored twice to earn a replay at home, thanks Julio.

Rumblings continue in Barcelona regarding TT,no news from this end, maybe we would benefit from the 30 or so million and its time to say Ta Ta to T T? let me know your thoughts.

Transfer madness 3 go, 2 in and £9m!!!

Well, the dust seems to have settled to reveal the full picture of yesterdays mayhem.

Cashley has gone to the bank of Chelsea and in return we get Gallas and £5m. Not sure who has won out of this deal, but at least Mr. Pop Idol has left the club that got him where he is today, I hope he doesn’t have a recurrence of the injury that forced him to miss most of last season!!!!!! As for Gallas, yes he is versatile, yes he can add some much needed strength to the midfield, so lets see if he wants to be a Gunner?

The simpleton has gone back to Spain, thank God I won’t have to bump into him wandering aimlessly around Brent Cross with his vertically challenged family – Adios Jose Antonio and thanks for the 3 or 4 good games. In return, Arsene has his Beast, Baptista along with £2m. Possibly a good signing if he can settle in London, Gilberto, its down to you.

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the day, was Villa Real, not satisfied with an injured Bobby, have paid £2m for Cygan – there is a God out there.

At the end of the day, I think we have come out of this debarkle pretty well, £9m to hopefully put towards the January 31st deadline, and 2 quality players that need to settle in quickly.

How different this team looks to the ‘invisibles’, at least now there is some physical strength in the side again, and the bully boy tactics of Bolton, Wigan and the like won’t carry any weight this season. Let’s put our trust in Arsenal’s most successful Manager to get it right once again, and get behind the new Gunners.

Dein confirms talks

David Dein today confirmed that Arsenal have had preliminary discussions with Chelsea regarding Cashley, the talks have been very civil. Dein denied that Cashley was going to Chelsea stating that he is still an Arsenal player, he has been a player since the age of 16 and remains an Arsenal player.

arsenalHopefully this episode of Arsenal’s history will be confirmed early next week and we can invest the money in creating a stronger squad. I think we could do with some English players to strength our squad and meet future Champions League rules, however you can see Arsene’s reluctance as you currently don’t get value for money, Curtis £10m+, Carrick £15m+ etc. etc.

Not much other news today, apart from Rosicky is fitting in well in Austria on the pre-season tour.

Wenger confirms speculation over Viera

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed he has no interest in bringing Patrick Vieira back to the club this summer. The French international is set to quit Juventus this summer after their relegation to Serie B for match-fixing, and some Gunners fans have called for Wenger to bring the player back to North London.

Wenger is happy to let let Barca and Inter battle it out for Viera’s signature:

“That is not something we are pursuing at the moment. Ther are a lot of players on the market in Italy but the wages are still very high clubcall.

Following Arsenal’ 2-1 win last night in Austria, Arsene also stated for the first time that Cashley may not be an Arsenal player next season – what a surprise. Speculation continues over the fee from between £20-£30m?gunnerblog.

Cole to Chelsea???

Looks like a deal is close to being struck with Chelsea as reported on

There was a time, that Cole featured high up on my list of committed Arsenal players, being able to stand alongside, Winterburn, Keown, Dixon, Seamen etc. now the little shit is nothing more than a bad smell to scrape from the bottom of your shoe, an anoyance and nothing more.

Anyone who thinks it clever to bid £110,000 for one of Beckham’s rapper style watches, clearly has no respect for money, in a blatant display of personal PR – hidding behind the facade of ‘its for charity’ Cashley sunk to yet lower depths than before – what a complete knob.

Tonight sees Arsenal in their first of 3 pre-season friendlies in Austria, or as Arsene called them ‘Team bonding sessions’

Super Rob – adios

Robert Pires joins Villa Real on a two year contract.

Speaking on Arsenal TV, Arsene Wenger revealed that Pires became a hero Arsenal.

Before March 23, 2002, Pires was en route to becoming one of the most sublime talents ever to grace Highbury. After signing in the summer of 2000 he had slowly adapted to the rigours of the English game to become graceful and incisive in equal measure. He was balanced, twinkle-toed and beautiful to watch. In the estimations of this observer, the Pires of the season 2001/02 was the only Arsenal player in the last 30 years whose technique is comparable to Dennis Bergkamp and Liam Brady.

De De De De Rosikys a gooner, Sol’s a gonna (nearly)

Arsenal, today announced the first signing of the Summer, Tomas Rosicky, you remember him, it was Tomas that ripped through the Arsenal defence in October 2000 whilst playing for Sparta Prague scoring a memorable goal, thankfully that night he was on the losing side. Tomas soon moved to Germany to play in the Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund, but Arsene didn't forget about him closely monitoring his development.

Arsene , has proven his worth yet again, snapping up Tomas for a bargain fee due to Borussia's financial frailty, the buy out clause being for far less than the krauts payed for him.

Check out Gunnerblog or The Cannon for more details on this transfer.

Adding to the speculation regarding Sol, it would appear that he made his last appearance for Arsenal in Paris, it would seem the only way he will make an appearance on the pitch at The Emirates will be in the Gunnersaurus outfit!!!!

Swap Shock – Cole for Shaun?

21 May 2006

'WORLD EXCLUSIVE' Cole's move to Blues is back on and flop Shaun could switch to Arsenal?

By Steve Stammers & Paul Smith – Sunday Mirror

ASHLEY COLE is set to move to Chelsea in a dramatic summer transfer that could take Shaun Wright-Phillips to Arsenal.

England full-back Cole, who was illegally tapped up by Chelsea 16 months ago, is still high on Jose Mourinho's wish-list.

Mourinho is confident of getting Cole and is ready to offer £21million flop Wright-Phillips who has failed to make any impact at Chelsea.

Despite the tapping-up scandal, Mourinho still feels a deal is possible with Arsenal, where Cole has a strained relationship with vice-chairman David Dein.

Cole has a get-out clause in his Highbury contract which values him at just £10m this summer, and offloading Wright-Phillips in an exchange deal would enable Chelsea to disguise the size of their loss on the ex-Manchester City star.

Wright-Phillips is the adopted son of Arsenal legend Ian Wright, who feels that a lack of opportunity at Chelsea is one of the main reasons why his son has failed to make the World Cup squad.

Mourinho bristled at any suggestion he is responsible for the player's absence from the squad, insisting: "He has played 21 games this season."

Asked if Wright-Phillips can still flourish as a Chelsea player, Mourinho said: "It's up to him."

Swapping Cole for Wright-Phillips is also likely to suit Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, enabling him to promote the promising French Under- 21 left-back Gael Clichy.
